Cabinet, public pay tribute to the late Gloria McPhee
Politicians and the general public were all queuing up to sign the book of condolences for former Education Minister Gloria McPhee who died over the weekend.
Premier Ewart Brown was the first to sign the book on display in the Cabinet Office, writing simply: "Nephew and Premier".
Education Minister Randy Horton said Mrs. McPhee was "an outstanding leader in our community" while Social Rehabilitation Minister Dale Butler said history would record her outstanding part in the Island's educational development.
She was the first woman to hold Cabinet rank and was Education Minister during the integration of schools.
Finance Minister Paula Cox said Mrs. McPhee was a woman of "stature, substance and style".
Former Senator Milton Scott describer her as a "wonderful lady" while top civil servant Judith Hall-Bean said she was a "great lady who was a major part in my development".
Mrs. McPhee died on Sunday aged 80. The condolence book is available to sign from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Friday.
