Corporation of Hamilton officials are implementing a parking restriction after a construction project at the old Purvis Building inadvertently created a hazard to the public.

The Corporation Secretary Kelly Miller said the parking ban is only a precautionary measure after "the collapse of a sand pocket".

She continued: "We anticipate the problem will be resolved within two weeks."

There will be no parking on the southern section of Victoria Street between Cedar Avenue and Brunswick Street.

There is also no parking on Brunswick Street.

Pedestrians on Victoria Street near Cedar Avenue are advised to use caution as some sidewalks will also be off limits as part of the precautionary restrictions.
