Air passengers can fly to New York at an unprecedented low price in the new year.

America-based Continental Airlines is introducing a $98 round trip between Bermuda and Newark throughout February.

With taxes and fees included in the price, people will be able to make the journey for $179.

It is the lowest fare ever to be offered by a regularly scheduled airline to and from the New York area.

Bermuda Airport, which is running a "golf and spa" promotion campaign throughout the winter, backed the move.

General manager James Howes said: "We congratulate Continental for its strong support of Bermuda during our winter travel season."

The fare will apply on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from February 15.
