Diners' donations for Perozzi mega-fight are on the menu
Teresa Perozzi, Bermuda's top female boxer, is taking her gloves to Germany to battle undefeated Russian Natasha Ragosina and The Little Venice Group is going to try to help her do it.
On March 15, Bermuda's only active professional boxer will be travelling with her trainers to hopefully bring home seven boxing title belts including the WBC, WBA and the WIBA championship belts — in the winner takes all clash.
The Little Venice group has agreed to donate a dollar per table served in all of their restaurants and is asking its supporters to donate an additional dollar, or better, to their meal to help Ms Perozzi financially support this venture.
Director of training for the Little Venice Group (MEF) Dale Butler said: "We are looking to raise between $6,000 to $10,000 and we are confident that she will deliver the 'knock out punch' and win the title.
"This is going to be a very intense match, ten rounds, and two minutes per round. She is going to need to train extensively to win this. We are very excited about this event. When I first told someone about the idea to help her out, one man was very excited and pulled out $50 and donated on the spot."
Ms Perozzi has been training hard with her two trainers, Charlie Romano, her boxing trainer from Farhills, New Jersey and Yves Paul, her conditioning trainer from Canada.
Ms Perozzi trains with Mr. Ramano daily. Mr. Ramano said: "Teresa is doing very well with training, and she is pleased."
Mr. Paul said: "I have been living here on the Island for a while and I have seen her fight. I approached her, offered my services to her telling her that I believe I can help her win this title. I am very pleased with Teresa's performance. She is a very dedicated woman."
Natasha Ragosina's current record is 16 wins and no losses and the Bermudian's current stats are six wins, two losses and one draw.
Ms Perozzi said: "I feel good about this, I'm feeling really confident."
She said that Ms Ragosina had been bragging about the fight and predicting she is going to win. She has even invited the Guinness World Book of Records to the event.
Whoever wins this match will be entered as the winner of the most World Titles. Ms Perozzi, the silent opponent, is looking to take this title and put Bermuda on the map.
The Little Venice Group is asking the public to support our Bermudian champion and donate.
