A flu bug has broken out among primary school children on the Island, the Government said yesterday.

A spokesman said a higher than usual number of cases of flu-like illnesses had been reported to the Department of Health's Surveillance Unit.

Senior Medical Officer Brenda Davidson said it was mainly affecting young children, with only a few teachers and other adults reporting illness. She advised parents to keep their children at home if they feel unwell and consult a doctor if symptoms are severe or prolonged.
