An official farewell parade for Governor Sir John Vereker will take place today through the centre of Hamilton.

Bermuda Regiment Band and Corps of Drums will lead the parade at 6 p.m. from Bermuda Fire Service headquarters along King Street, Reid Street and Court Street, ending in a ceremony at the Cabinet Office. Traffic will be interrupted as a result.

Sir John is stepping down after five years in the job. His replacement, Sir Richard Gozney, the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, is due to arrive at Government House in December.
