Let's have a ball!
With the PGA Grand Slam of Golf just around the corner, the Department of Tourism is hosting a slew of parties for those who can't attend the tournament.
The first of three 'Turn Bermuda On!' events takes place tomorrow evening at Hamilton Princess.
Niamah Denbrook, manager of on-Island Communications for the Department of Tourism, said: "We're excited to present these Turn Bermuda On! events for the public to come out and celebrate.
"The kickoff event is Happy Hour at Hamilton Princess. There will be a lot of activity and free promotional items. There is a Putt to Win where we are giving away 40 three-day passes to the tournament. We want all Bermudians to come out, any residents, to come out and celebrate."
The first 1,000 people will receive a free drink courtesy of Bermuda Premium Spirits Ltd.
Next up will be viewing parties at bars and restaurants all over the Island. The idea is to go to your favourite bar or restaurant between 5.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. to watch the Grand Slam.
The first 50 people will get a free drink provided by the Department of Tourism.
At Greg's Steakhouse, there will be an open bar and free hot and cold hors d'oeuvres. There will also be flat screen television set up for guests viewing pleasures.
Flanagan's Irish Bar and Restaurant will also be setting up brand new flat screens in the Legends Sports Bar but won't be having any drink or food specials.
Ocean View will set up TVs in the lounge where patrons can receive one free drink.
The participating bars for viewing parties are: Bailey's Bay Cricket Club, Blue Water Angler's Club & Bar, The Cellar at Fairmont Southampton, Frog & Onion Pub, Griffin's Bar, Leopard's Club, Mariners' Club, Mulligan's Restaurant, Port Royal Golf Course, Robin Hood Pub & Restaurant, Sea Breeze at Elbow Beach, Somerset Cricket Club, St. George's Cricket Club, Young Men's Social Club and Western Stars Sports Club.
The final event will take place at Barrs Bay Park on the final night of the tournament, October 17 from 5.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
There will be a 30-foot projection screen for everyone to watch the tournament and free food and drinks.
The Department of Tourism has hired models from JaKoMa Agency to hosts the events. Ms Denbrook said she encourages everyone to come out and celebrate the PGA coming to Bermuda.
"The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is being held in Bermuda for the first time ever. In fact, its being held outside of the US for the first time ever. So we want Bermudians to be proud that the PGA has chosen our country to be the host country for this event and because of this millions of people around the world will see our beautiful Island and all that it has to offer.
"We want to do all we can to bring more and more visitors to Bermuda. It's an exciting time for Bermuda and it's an exciting time for tourism."
