An 83-year-old man was badly injured when his motorbike was in collision with a car.

The accident happened on Wednesday, on North Shore Road, Devonshire, near the junction with Cable Hill.

Police said it appeared that the car and the man were travelling in the same direction, with the motorcycle behind, when the car came to an abrupt stop and the vehicles collided.

The Smith's man riding the motorcycle was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where his condition was described last night as stable, in intensive care.

The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Hamilton Parish man, was not injured.
