Man charged with sex assaults on buses
A 33-year-old man was charged yesterday in Magistrates' Court with a total of eight counts sexual assaults and invasion of privacy against women on public buses. Crown counsel Cindy Clarke read eight charges against the Southampton man of which four were for sexual assault and four for invasion of privacy of three different women.
He plead not guilty to all eight charges, which relate to last December, and elected to have his case heard in Supreme Court.
The accused is already on bail for two similar counts for which he is set to appear in court on March 26 and Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set bail at $10,000 with two sureties for the eight counts yesterday.
The bail was given on the condition that he report to the Hamilton Police Station on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., he must surrender travel documents and is banned from public transportation. The case is set for mention on March 5 when a date will be decided for hearing in the Supreme Court.
