A man who was caught with 1.05 grams of cannabis in his possession has been fined $800.

Leo Robbie Fox Jr., 27, pleaded guilty to having the drugs when he appeared at Magistrates Court. The court heard that Police officers had gone to the Friswells Road area in Devonshire around 10.20 p.m. on March 5.

Officers saw Fox, of St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke, acting suspiciously and then get on a motorcycle and flee the area, according to Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney. Officers went after Fox and stopped him and found in his trouser pockets a cigarette box containing six cigarettes and a packet containing a plant-like material.

Fox told the Police the item was his. When the material was analysed it was confirmed as cannabis. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Fox $800.
