Mount Saint Agnes Academy (MSA) has emerged victorious in the 23rd annual School Quiz Competition after competing against a total of five teams.

The final round was held on Saturday night at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and saw the Berkeley Institute, MSA, Dellwood Middle School and Whitney Institute compete for the championship.

Somersfield Academy also competed but was defeated in the semi finals.

MSA's winning team consisted of Ashley Lombardi, Michelle Medeiros, Cameron Moulder, Sally Laing and reserve member David Thomas.

The coveted quiz sees schools from around the Island test their knowledge in current events, geography, history, music and sports, among other subjects.

MSA teacher Annette Boyle said: "About five years ago, MSA started a streak of winning for three years in the quiz competition. Last year we came in fourth place, this year our team was determined to come back with much vigour.

"Since November, (the children) have been studying the booklet of questions, 1,000 of them, plus pages in The Royal Gazette for the current events category."
