Police renew appeal to slow down

Police have renewed their appeal to motorists in asking that they slow down on the Island's roads and continue to exercise care, caution and safety.

Police said yesterday: "Additionally, we urge those travelling in cars to use their seat belts at all times and those travelling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane."

They also noted that during the week of Monday April 21 to Monday April 28, there were 18 reported injuries resulting from collisions, 28 damage-only collisions, four arrests for suspicion of impaired driving and 23 vehicles reported taken without their owners' consent.

The vehicles were taken from six Parishes. Most of them were auxiliary cycles and motorcycles, with one car and golf cart stolen during the period.

Of these reports of vehicle thefts, four were subsequently recovered.
