Premier honoured by alma mater
Premier Ewart Brown will receive a Distinguished Alumni Award this weekend from Howard University.
Dr Brown was part of Howard University's undergraduate Class of 1968 and graduated from the medical school in 1972.
"I have received numerous awards over the years, but this one is special because it comes from Howard – an institution where I grew up.
"I spent a lot of time and energy there, it's where, I think it's fair to say, I became a man. So to have them honour me like this is overwhelming," said Dr. Brown
This year there are six recipients: Dr. Brown for Government and Community Service; Maria Cabret for Law; Harry Robinson III for Architecture and Education; Ive Swan for Law; Dr. Lucius Walker for Education and Fredricka Whitfield for Journalism.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards, which part of a weekend celebrating the historically black college's 141st anniversary, will be presented at the black-tie Charter Day Dinner on Saturday, March 8th in Washington D.C.
