Robber pleads guilty
A man has admitted to robbery, theft and knife possession charges.
Richard James Green, 54, pleaded guilty during a brief hearing at Supreme Court yesterday.
According to prosecutors, he stole $1,000 from Arthur Able Cabral on July 25, 2006, then robbed him of $1,000 on September 18 of that year.
Green robbed Mr. Cabral of a further $1,000 on October 13. Ten days later he stole $3,000 from the same victim, and then robbed him of $500 on November 16 and $50 on November 18. On that date, he also possessed a knife in Point Pleasant Road.
No details were given about the string of offences during the court hearing. Green pleaded not guilty to further charges of committing a serious assault against Mr. Cabral, depriving him of his liberty, and two counts of knife possession in Beacon Street, Pembroke.
Director of Public Prosecutions asked for these to lie on file, not to be proceeded without the leave of the court. Defence lawyer Charles Richardson asked for pre-sentence reports to be prepared on Green.
Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves remanded the defendant into custody pending a further court appearance in March, when a date for his sentencing will be fixed.
