Three people injured on Monday in crashes
Three people were taken to hospital after three separate road crashes on Monday.
The first occurred in Middle Road, Warwick, around 11 a.m., involving a motorcycle, a car and a truck.
A police spokesman explained: "It appears that the motorcycle was travelling east on Middle Road when the rider, a 44-year-old Paget man, came to a stop.
"The car was travelling in the same direction behind the cycle and also came to a stop. However, the truck, which was also travelling in the same direction behind the car, could not stop in time. As a result, the truck collided with the car which then collided with the cycle.
"The rider of the cycle sustained abrasions to his left leg and pain to his right ankle. The driver of the car, a 43-year-old Sandys parish woman, sustained lower back pain, a leg injury and a head injury. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old Warwick man, was not injured. The cycle and truck received moderate damage while the car received extensive rear end damage."
The next crash was at around 5.30 p.m, on Ord Road in Warwick, involving a car and a motocross cycle.
The spokesman said: "It appears that the car was travelling west on Ord Road and the motocross cycle was travelling along the Railway Trail when the rider of the cycle, a 22-year-old Warwick man, failed to come to a stop before entering the main road and the vehicles collided.
"The Warwick man sustained fractured wrists as a result and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 47-year-old Sandys parish woman, was not injured. The car received a shattered rear side window and a large dent while the motocross cycle was not damaged. The rider of the cycle was also issued several tickets for multiple traffic offences."
The final incident was around 6.30 p.m, near the junction of Beacon Hill Road and Somerset Road in Sandys parish.
The spokesman explained: "It appears that a rental cycle was attempting to enter the grounds of the Somerset Police Station from Beacon Hill Road when the rider, a 55-year-old woman from Indiana, USA, lost control and fell to the ground.
"The female visitor sustained abrasions to her right ring finger and possible internal injuries. It is believed she was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The rental cycle received minor damage."
A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday that neither of the injured women needed to be admitted to hospital. The injured man was on a ward, and in a stable condition.
