A mother-of-two crashed her car into a taxi while she was drunk, a court heard.

Sakena Talbot, 26, ploughed into the vehicle after entering a junction without stopping first to ensure it was safe, Magistrates' Court was told yesterday.

Police arrived at the scene — North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish — and Talbot told them she had one drink.

She later admitted she had two drinks, and was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station, where she gave a breath sample of 144 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Talbot, of Farm Lane, Hamilton Parish, admitted the offence, which took place on May 13.

Magistrate Shade Subair fined her $1,000 and disqualified her from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
