Corporation details waterfront plans

The first step in developing Hamilton's waterfront was taken with a presentation to industry partners by the Corporation of Hamilton. On March 12 an update on the project, which has been in the works for years, was given in a private meeting. The development is something Mayor of Hamilton Sutherland Madeiros said recently he wanted to get back onto the front burner.

In an interview with the Mid Ocean newspaper he said: "(And) one of the things that we're doing is aggressively moving forward on the Hamilton Waterfront Redevelopment Plan, a major project that will be ongoing for many years."

First the economic viability and integration with the city has to be considered, according to Alderman David Dunkley, chairman of the Planning and Development Committee. He said: "The response to the Waterfront project has been very positive and, as we move along with it, we are gathering input from our stakeholders.
