A 19-year-old Pembroke man appeared in Supreme Court yesterday to answer charges that he had sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 14.

Danai Dechae Burns, of St. Monica's Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to three counts of having unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl under the age of 14.

Burns admitted to having sex with the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at least three times during 2007. Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves ordered a social inquiry report.

Burns, represented by defence lawyer Charles Richardson, is due to reappear in court for mention on May 1, when a sentencing date will be determined.
