Social workers launch membership drive
Bermuda's first ever professional organisation of social workers is conducting a membership drive through the end of this month.
The Bermuda National Association of Social Workers (BNASW) hit the ground running about a year ago.
Since January 2006 it has completed a constitution, become a registered charity, and opened a bank account.
Now it is ready to grow.
The BNASW will help police the social work profession to ensure ethics are upheld, that professionals are properly licensed and that the public is fully educated on available services.
By this summer the group should have a website to keep its members informed on a variety of topics.
Membership dues start at $12.50 for students and range all the way up to professional members who pay $50 per year.
The meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the Bermuda Public Service Union headquarters.
