Tribute for road death raises $3,700
A tribute night in memory of school teacher Toby Colombe, who was killed in a road accident in Smith's Parish on November 19, has raised $3,700.
Friends and fellow musicians gathered at the Spanish Point Boat Club for a special tribute evening of music last Saturday to remember Mr. Colombe, who was himself a regular player at the Bermuda Folk Club during his two years on the Island.
The Canadian taught physical education at Mount Saint Agnes Academy, and some of the pupils he taught attended the evening of music.
There was also an appearance by a musical group from the Academy calling themselves the MSA Saints.
At least 140 people turned up for the folk club night, which featured local performers playing songs that included many from Mr. Colombe's native Canada and tunes that he had played at the club over the years.
Extra donations were also collected and proceeds from the evening, which totalled $3,700, will be sent to the family of Mr. Colombe.
