Two motorcyclists hurt in separate accidents during the weekend
Two motorcyclists were rushed to hospital after separate road crashes yesterday in which their bikes were the only vehicles involved.
The first saw a 33-year-old man from Smith's suffer chest and face injuries after he lost control of his motorcycle on a bend and hit a wall just after 2 a.m.
Police said it appeared the rider was travelling east along Middle Road in Devonshire, between Tee Street and Spur Lane, when he crossed over into the westbound lane as he negotiated a left hand bend and struck the wall.
He was taken in an ambulance to the intensive care unit at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
By last night, he had been moved to a general ward where his condition was stable. The motorcycle was extensively damaged.
Just before 10.30 a.m. yesterday, a 17-year-old from Warwick lost control of his auxiliary cycle on South Road in Paget near the junction with Southcote Road.
He was travelling east and trying to negotiate a right hand bend when the crash occurred. The teenager was taken to KEMH via ambulance and later discharged.
