The Development Applications Board gave the go-ahead to the Calvary Gospel Chapel on Rose Hill Road near Port Royal Golf Course to make plans for alterations and additions and to add on classrooms.

But as a footnote, it advised against any further development on the site.

"We've outgrown the one we have,'' said the chapel's youth pastor Mark Hall yesterday.

The chapel currently seats 150, Pastor Hall said. It was hoped to expand it to auditorium-size.

The classrooms would be for its popular childrens' and adult Sunday school.

The chapel is a brethren church which teaches the bible.

Conditions of the DAB's tentative approval of the chapel's January 5 application were that an oleander hedge on the north-western boundary be retained and provision be made for adequate access and parking facilities.
