A young boy who sent a message in a bottle was pleasantly surprised when he received a postcard from France revealing the bottle had been found across the

While vacationing in Bermuda last October, 11-year-old Philip Jakeway of Eastchester, New York threw the bottle containing a message into the ocean off Tucker's Town.

Philip was in Bermuda with his parents, celebrating their anniversary.

He spent most of his days fishing but on the day the family were leaving he decided to send the message.

Three months later, on his birthday, he received a postcard from Mr.

Jean-Pierre Rognard of France.

The bottle had washed ashore at La Baule-Es-Coublac, on the Bay of Biscay 2,700 miles from Bermuda.

"I was so excited, I never thought anyone would actually find it,'' Philip said. "But as soon as my mom said I got a postcard I thought about the bottle.'' He said he wanted to know more about Mr. Rognard but the card had neither address nor telephone number.
