Abuse counsellors get CADA funding
from the Scholarship Committee of the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to attend overseas development training and further their professional qualifications.
Mr. Colin Simmons, the Bermuda Industrial Union's new training officer, will be attending the 25th annual Employee Assistance Professionals Association Seminar in Chicago from November 10-13.
Mr. Vaughn Mosher of Benedict Associates Ltd., a local Employee Assistance Provider, was instrumental in approaching CADA on behalf of Mr. Simmons.
CADA is also funding the attendance of Mr. David Masters from the Salvation Army's Emergency Housing Complex at the South Eastern Conference on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. The conference is being held in Atlanta from November 20-23.
In keeping with CADA's committment to professional development and certification, the scholarship committee agreed to help Mrs. Victoria Beecher -- a local professional with International Certification Qualifications -- attend the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC) meeting in Chicago from November 7-9.
Mrs. Beecher will be attending the meeting as an observer in order to gather information on the IRCR and with the hopes of eventually representing Bermuda at the international level.
