The child was walking along Store Lane with her sister when the accident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said the rider stopped and picked up the girl, carrying her to a nearby property.

He left instructions with the householders to call an ambulance and then rode off, breaking a promise to return.

The child received road rash to her cheeks, forehead and fingers.
