sex prowler were relived yesterday.

As Police pleaded for information, they revealed how the 26-year-old was literally dragged into a nightmare.

After being bundled from the bike, she was pulled by her arms across South Shore Road, Warwick, and over a small rubble wall.

Rocks and stones were scattered as the attacker hauled her, kicking and screaming, down into foliage.

There, as he attempted to rape her, the plucky American put up the fight of her life.

And after several minutes, the man was forced to give up and drove off into the night.

Badly bruised and bleeding, the woman waited until the sound of the car's engine had faded, before dragging herself on to the road and flagging down a passing motorist.

She was taken to hospital with ankle, hand, and back injuries, but later released after treatment.

The woman's ordeal in the early hours of August 27 was recreated yesterday by Police in a bid to jog memories.

As they try to construct the jigsaw, they hope someone will come forward with the missing pieces.

Acting Detective Inspector Legay Farley, who is masterminding the hunt with three other detectives, told The Royal Gazette : "We have been very pleased so far with the response from the public, and have interviewed many people.

"But we are still seeking even more help, hopefully which will lead us to the culprit. Every little bit of information is useful.'' Police believe the attacker lay in wait for his victim in the driveway to the Southlands estate.

He is said to have been in a light-coloured compact car.

Said Acting Det. Insp. Farley: "He literally walked from the vehicle onto the opposite side of the road, and forced the woman off her bike.

"The bike was sent somersaulting to the roadside, and her crash helmet settled next to it.'' Police particularly want to trace a taxi driver believed to have driven a white van-type taxi along South Road around the time of the attack.

It is thought he may have seen the attacker's car which accelerated and overtook the taxi.

The woman -- believed to be a waitress -- had been wearing a black mini skirt, and a white long-sleeved shirt, with red and blue vertical stripes.

Her light-skinned attacker was tall, thought to be in his 20s, and thin. He was wearing a dark wasteland jacket, and blue jeans.

Anyone with any information should ring Acting Det. Insp. Farley at the Police incident room in Prospect.
