Police have now urged people to fasten their windows.

"Most cases appear to have been during daylight hours, and the culprit was permitted easy access through insecure windows,'' said Police spokesman Sgt.

Gary Venning. "However, in two cases, considerable damage was done to the windows to gain access.'' Some $300 in cash and jewellery were also stolen from a property in the Forest Hills area of Warwick on Wednesday night.

Police are also probing a rash of break-ins which occurred in the Cavendish Heights, Devonshire area on Tuesday.

In the most serious incident, an intruder made off with cash and a gold Seiko watch from a Shelton Road home.

Other Cavendish Road area residents reported break-ins with food being stolen.
