Apart from fires, they were called out to eight flooding, rescues, three road traffic accidents, roof coverings, one boat fire and hazardous material problems.

There were a total of 24 special services calls added to 64 fire calls during the month.

That total figure of 88 emergency calls was 22 more than the same month in 1992. The estimated financial loss for the month was $88,472.

The City of Hamilton and Pembroke Parish were the worst affected areas with 18 and 17 calls.

Five people were hurt in the accidents and another person suffered injuries as a result of an explosion.
