CADET programme under Cabinet review
under Government review.
The Centre of Adolescent Development, Education and Training programme (CADET), which was set up to take students having difficulties from schools and give them help, has undergone a summer review.
And after a draft report on the scheme has been agreed by Cabinet, it will undergo a re-structuring to improve its service.
CADET was set up to take students, aged between 13 years and 16 years, with behavioural problems out of school and into a different environment to tackle the issues facing them.
The aim was to re-integrate them back into the mainstream after completing a programme which included academic work and community service.
Lucy Welsh, assistant to the Education Permanent Secretary, said the plan was due to go to Ministers soon.
