for the proposed multi-storey car park at Bull's Head.

Hamilton Mayor, the Rt. Wor. William Boyle said: "We have asked about six or eight firms to bid, and we estimate that that will take about six weeks.

"After that it will take about one to two weeks for the Corporation to deliberate, and then about a month to contract an order of steel.'' Because the area around Bull's Head is marshy, steel pilings will have to be put in before construction can begin.

"We have not yet received the final approval from the Planning Department.

But the plans have been approved.'' The three-storey car park is expected to hold more than 700 cars when completed.

Before any tenders can be accepted, contractors will be required to prove that they can carry the work out within the allotted time frame.

The Corporation is looking to begin building in August.
