A department spokesman yesterday said parking ticket-type stickers will be placed on any boat found at an unlicensed mooring.

"Unlicensed moorings present a major problem for the department,'' he said.

"All 4,500 moorings Island-wide are being inspected to resolve it.'' To date, he said, 10 percent of the moorings at the western end of the Island are unlicensed and "only 50 percent have the decal displayed as required''.

Owners of moorings, who have not paid the annual $25 fee or displayed a decal, were urged to do so as soon as possible to avoid being ticketed.

Marine and Ports officials will be happy to assist owners who are not certain of the status of their moorings, the spokesman said.
