Anyone with toxic waste at home or at their business is asked to deposit it at the site between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. today and Saturday.

Residents can drop off unwanted laboratory chemicals, banned or outdated pesticides, paints, paint solvents, dirty fuels, dry-cleaning solvents, photo chemicals, unwanted medicines, lawn and garden products for proper disposal.

In July, when the first hazardous waste drop-off took place, 3,700 gallons of hazardous flammable liquids, 450 drums of environmentally damaging wastes were collected and shipped overseas for reuse or disposal.

A Government spokesman noted that until recently, hazardous wastes were tossed into one of Government's dump sites, or into the ocean or ground water by way of cesspits or casual dumping which was particularly damaging to the environment.

Although on-going year-round collection programmes will continue for motor oil, fluorescent lamps and ballasts and vehicle and household batteries, after this weekend, people will have to wait until the spring and fall of 1995 to properly dispose of their hazardous wastes.
