A woman will have to demolish a part-built extension to her property in Sandys Parish after being refused planning permission.

The Development Applications Board turned down the plans by Mrs. Edith Benjamin for a second storey addition and a two storey extension to create a second apartment and garage at the house in Tribe Road.

The Board found it was contrary to the Bermuda Plan 1992 because of its height, scale and the overall appearance and visual impact in the context of its surroundings.

Neighbours had not given letters of consent to "setbacks'' which would affect their properties.

The Board recommended to the Minister of the Environment, the Hon. Gerald Simons: "That consideration be given to serving an Enforcement Notice to cease the unauthorised use of the building as a dwelling unit and to remove the unauthorised additions to the approved storage shed.''
