announcing some changes in this newspaper. For the convenience of our readers, we are going to carry a page of expanded television listings on a daily basis with a double page on Saturday's to cover the weekend.

We are also adding two additional comic strips which have found great popularity in other places, Dilbert and Mother Goose and Grimm.

We see these changes as only a small part of the regular evolution of any newspaper and we will be looking at other changes bearing in mind the fact that there is always room for improvement.

Surveys show The Royal Gazette's regular readership is one of the highest per capita in the world but that does not automatically mean that we always know what our readers would like to read or that we are providing everything they would like to see in The Royal Gazette .

We would ask our readers to tell us if they think there are areas which we are not covering well or if they would like to see articles on things we may not be covering at all. Do the readers want more in some areas? Do we give sufficient coverage of the ends of Bermuda, Somerset and St.

George's? Would our readers like to see local columnists such as those printed in our sister paper, the Mid-Ocean News? Would you like to see The Royal Gazette print obituaries on a regular basis as many papers in the United States do? Do you get enough stock reports or sports results? IS our coverage of the weather helpful? Would you like expanded entertainment coverage? Do the readers think we should be using more colour pictures? Do we carry too much or too little coverage of House of Assembly and Senate debates? Would you like more interviews with local personalities? More news on charities which are so important to Bermuda? We would like you to pick up the telephone and chat with the Editor at 295-5881. We know this will not be any sort of scientific survey but we appreciate the views of our readers even when they give us a hard time and we think we hear too little from them. Sometimes people seem a bit intimidated to call. Don't be: Your views are important. For those who are writing letters to the Editor, add a line at the bottom of your letters telling us the things you would like to see us do. We do get some feedback in letters now but it is usually specific criticism and what we would like to hear now is suggestions for areas where we could serve you better.

Very often we are so busy on Par-la-Ville Road that we tend to do things the way they have been done for years simply because that's the easy way.

Doubtless we are missing some things which would make our readers more satisfied.

We hear complaints and suggestions as we go about our day but those are often from people we know or have regular business contact with and we need to hear from the general readers who may well have suggestions we should deal with but are not going to think of ourselves.
