Gordon heading for UK

first time next week.

And she will definitely meet Foreign Secretary Robin Cook and the Minister of State with responsibility for Bermuda, Baroness Symons, for high level talks in London.

It is possible, however -- if timetabling permits -- that the Premier will meet Mr. Blair as well.

Last night, Ms Gordon said she expected the talks with the two Ministers to concentrate on the soon-to-be-completed review of Britain's relationships with its remaining Dependent Territories.

She said: "There is an agenda -- but pretty much we're going to be discussing Bermuda's position on the review and what it means.

"It should be quite interesting. It gives us the opportunity to do some fact-finding. They have some questions and we have some questions.'' "We don't know what else might come up because it's something arranged through Government House.'' Bermuda has already delivered its opinions on how the relationship between the Island and Britain could be improved.

Government was asked to come up with suggestions based on three main headings -- citizenship and right of abode, Constitutional status and also for their opinion on a change of name to British Overseas Territories, thought to be less patronising than the current tag.

Mr. Cook is expected to reveal the results of the review at Dependent Territories Conference.

Deputy Governor Peter Willis said: "I would expect the review will figure prominently in any talks in London.

"It is important for Ministers to hear what Bermuda's interests are from people representing those interests,'' he said. "You must have input on a review like this -- particularly timely input and this is timely.'' Ms Gordon said she would be meeting Mr. Cook before she delivers the keynote speech to a meeting of the Bermuda Society.

She added she hoped Mr. Cook and Baroness Symons would also be able to give her an outline of the upcoming Dependent Territories Association meeting, to be held in London in February.
