The Council Partners Charitable Trust governs the finances of five Bermudian charities involved in the treatment of alcohol and drug abuse. The Catalogue for Giving is a New York based charity that supports 14 community organisations that work with at risk children and young people.

LONGTIALS SIGHTED ALS Longtails sighted Spring is in the air and the Longtails are beginning to return to Bermuda.

Yesterday three were spotted in the Church Bay area and several were seen earlier in the Coral Beach area.

Bermuda is the most northerly breeding ground for the Longtails who follow the warm air of the Gulf Stream. They spend most of their time at sea and only come to land for breeding. The last Longtails leave Bermuda in September or October.

SWING BRIDGE CLOSED TRA Swing Bridge closed The swing bridge acoss Ferry Reach has was yesterday closed to marine traffic due to a minor mechanical problem. It is expected to be back into operation today or tomorrow, a spokesperson at the bridge said.

The bridge became stuck around 1.30 p.m. when the bridge master attempted to open it to marine traffic. A series of pins used to keep the bridge flush to the roadbed became seized, locking it into position.

CONVERTIBLE DAMAGED CRM Convertible damaged A Pembroke couple returned from a movie to find the roof of their car slashed.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the couple had parked their car at the Par-La-Ville car park in Hamilton while they attended a movie on Tuesday evening.

Upon their return, they found their grey Volkswagen Golf convertible slashed.

An expensive navy designer suit, which was stolen from the car, was believed to be the motive for the damage.

RIDER'S KNEE INJURED AC Rider's knee injured Police are investigating an accident that landed a rider in hospital with a severe knee injury.

Spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the accident took place on Tuesday morning at the junction of White Sands and South Road in Paget.

A 30-year-old Warwick man, driving a Mazda van, and a Suzuki bike ridden by a 51-year-old man collided.

Mrs. James Barnett said the cycle rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance after he suffered severe damage to his knee.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

MONEY STOLEN CRM Money stolen A 36-year-old American visitor had her spending money stolen from her Southampton hotel room.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the Philadelphia woman went for a massage between 4.14 and 5.45 p.m. on Tuesday, leaving her black purse on her bed.
