Latin's a breeze for BHS girls
students appear to find it easier than English.
Every girl who took the Latin examination at the school this summer was given a grade A.
That can be compared to the English Language examination, taken by all 28 Senior V girls, in which 96.4 percent gained A, B or C.
Art is also a strong subject with all those girls involved gaining the A grade, while 12 out of the 28 earned A in French.
Headmaster Mr. John Wright announced the results of the British Certificate of Secondary Education and the International GCSE Examinations which took place at the school in June.
Of the 240 papers written on a variety of subjects, 50.4 percent earned As and Bs, with 80 percent being given As, Bs or Cs.
Among the 11 Senior IV girls who sat for the examination in mathematics, eight earned A grades and three earned B.
This year the High School begins its 98th year with 530 girls in attendance, a quarter of whom will receive a quarter of their tuition supported by scholarship awards or bursarial aid.
