boating mishaps this weekend.

It all started around 8 p.m. on Friday when the Cutlas , a 25-foot power boat with six locals aboard, began taking on water off Baileys Bay. After sending out a distress signal, the Cutlas was assisted by another local craft, which towed it to the Agriculture and Fisheries dock at Coney Island. The cause of the leakage was not disclosed.

Early yesterday morning, a Police car parked at Somerset Long Bay picked up on its radio "cries of help from an unknown vessel.'' Harbour authorities were notified and an emergency broadcast was sent out to boats in the area to provide aid.

Some 20 minutes later, the Cindy Ann responded to the call, which came from Fighting Back II , a disabled 30-foot cabin cruiser with four people onboard.

The cruiser was towed to Boaz Island.

Finally, at approximately 6.45 a.m. yesterday, the Foxfire , a locally registered power boat with three people aboard, ran aground in the Wreck Hill-Pompano Beach area and began taking on water.

Within minutes, the crews of three local boats -- Wild Thing , Jedi Knight and the fishing boat Challenger -- were on the scene.

They assisted by diving to assess the damage and towing the Foxfire to Robinson's Marina.
