home town of the Island's founder will take place in April.

A delegation from Lyme Regis, Dorset -- birthplace of Sir George Somers, who first settled Bermuda -- will take part in a twinning ceremony in St.

George's.

The visit will coincide with the pageantry of the annual Peppercorn ceremony and follows a twinning ceremony in Lyme Regis last summer.

The arrangements were announced after the first meeting of the St.

George's/Lyme Regis Twinning Association, held this week at the Corporation of St. George's new headquarters at Buckingham.

Mayor of St. George's Henry Hayward said the new relationship offered "a mutually advantageous opportunity for promoting business in tourism''.

And he added that Bermudians had already made a point of visiting the historic English town on trips to England, while British interest in visiting St.

George's had been stimulated.

At the Buckingham meeting, Bill Davis was appointed temporary chairman of the association until a permanent one is elected.

A public meeting will be held at 7.30 p.m. today at the Ordnance Island Cruise Terminal. Anyone interested in strengthening the bonds between the two towns is invited to attend.

The Peppercorn ceremony will be held on April 23 in King's Square, followed by a reception in Somers Garden.
