The man was found at the rear of the pulverisation plant in Pembroke.

His body was discovered about 10.40 a.m. yesterday, Police confirmed.

Sources said the man had his throat slit and that he was found near "the Stables'', a known drugs area on the dump.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said yesterday detectives were not prepared to comment on his injuries or whether or not the death was drug-related.

"All I can say is that foul play is suspected,'' P.c. Venning said.

The man's identity was being withheld until he had been identified.

Detectives, headed by Ch. Insp. Vic Richmond, were yesterday morning guarding the Marsh Folly Road entrance to the dump while conducting inquiries.

Meanwhile, it appeared to be work as usual for the gang of self-employed workmen who stand at the dump's entrance to assist the public in off-loading bags of garbage and other throwaways.

Most of the men refused to talk to the Press but one drew a finger across his neck when asked how the deceased came to his death.

The man was the fifth person to die this year under suspicious circumstances.

College student Mr. Wilfred (Oppie) Ming became the fourth when he was killed outside a St. George's bar last month. Winston Burgess, 30, has been charged with the murder of Mr. Ming.
