Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness served notice of motion yesterday that he wanted the House to "take note of the devastating effects'' of the HIV virus and AIDS on the community "and the effective means of combatting it.'' Shadow Health and Social Services Minister Mr. Nelson Bascome also supported the take note motion, Mr. Edness said.

Wednesdays was World AIDS Day. Bermuda has lost 211 people to the disease. The debate, which is not to be held until after Christmas, "will give all in Bermuda much more awareness of this particular problem,'' Mr. Edness said outside the House.
