Allison Marsh, of Tamarind Vale, Warwick, was charged with possession of the drug after her mother found four brown paper twists in her room on July 25.

The court heard that Marsh's mother was looking through her daughter's bedroom when she found a cigarette package under her mattress which contained the four twists.

These contained plant material which was later analysed and discovered to be 4.02 grams of cannabis.

Marsh was taken to Hamilton Police Station by her parents where she gave a statement in their presence.

She admitted buying the twists for her own personal use and putting them under her mattress.

Marsh apologised to the court and was released on $1,000 bail.

MARINERS HOLD CHARITY DISCO FNR Mariners hold charity disco Mariners Rugby Football Club will be holding a disco tonight with part of the proceeds going to help with the medical costs of Ben Jewett, who broke his neck in a rugby game on Sunday.

Mr. Jewett is in satisfactory condition on a general ward following two operations.

Doors open for the event at 8 p.m. at the Mariners Club on Richmond Road and there is a $10 cover charge.

A class of '51 committee has worked hard to put on the event which begins at 2.00 p.m.

ARCHITECUTRE ON STAMPS UPS Architecture on stamps The General Post Office will focus on "Architectural Heritage'' for their next stamp issue.

Yvonne Smith, Coordinator of the Philatelic Service said that the new set of stamps would depict buildings owned and maintained by the Bermuda National Trust.

The stamps, which will be released on November 28, will be in values of $2.50 and 30, 65 and 80 cents.

A full set will cost $4.25 and a First Day Cover will also be available at a cost of $5.50.

VISITORS BUSTED AT AIRPORT CRM Visitor busted at Airport An 31-year-old American visitor who pleaded guilty to possessing 2.23 grams of marijuana this week left Magistrates' Court $650 poorer.

Gwendolyn Brandt of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, was searched on November 15 by Customs officers at the Bermuda International Airport. The marijuana, along with a packet of rolling papers, was found hidden in her baggage.

"I'm sorry. I was stupid,'' the school bus driver told officers at the time.

Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp fined her $500 for the drugs and $150 for the papers.

SWING BRIDGE TO BE CLOSED TRA Swing Bridge to be closed The Swing Bridge in St. George's will closed to all boats between Monday and Tuesday next week so that engineers from the Ministry of Works and Engineering can conduct routine maintenance.

It is expected that the work will be done on Monday November 25, 1996 and be completed by the morning of November 26, 1996.
