Police car damaged in chase
involved in a high-speed chase while a crowd surrounded officers attempting to arrest a 21-year-old Pembroke man.
The melee started at about 3 a.m. when a Police patrol tried to stop a cycle on Court Street after the rider was seen driving without proper headgear.
A chase ensued around the streets of Hamilton. As the vehicles were travelling on Reid Street someone threw a metal trash can at the cruiser's windshield, causing the vehicle to crash.
The rider abandoned his cycle near the junction of Court and Reid Streets, and ran off in a westerly direction.
Police pursued him on foot and attempted an arrest at the entrance of Attitudes Night Club. By this time a large crowd had gathered and back-up was required for the officers to make the arrest.
