RETURN VISITOR HAD TO PAY OLD FINES CTS Return visitor had to pay old fines An American who visited the Island a year ago returned to appear in Magistrates' Court yesterday for unpaid traffic fines.

Scott Kirby, 38, admitted he had failed to heed a stop sign and rode his moped with an unfastened helmet.

He was given two on-the-spot $50 fines, which he had to pay within seven days or appear in court on the date stated on the ticket, Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, said.

Kirby told the court he failed to do either because he lost track of time.

Remembering the tickets once back in the US, he mailed the money to court.

But it was too late because a warrant had already gone out for his arrest, Sgt. Osborne said. The court refused to accept the money and Kirby was summoned to Bermuda.

He told the court he came back willingly. Because of this Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said he would keep the fines at $50 each.
