northern US seaboard to be on watch for a 146-foot barge which broke free from its tow over the weekend.

The Belize-registered Tropic Seahorse was towing the barge -- laden with four 40-foot containers and a crane -- from Miami to Boston when it broke free in rough weather.

Attempts to re-establish a line have failed and the barge remains adrift some 480-miles northwest of the Island, about 180 miles off the US coast.
