Bureaucracy has no place in the fight against AIDS, an AIDS charity spokesman stated yesterday.

In a press release, Joe Gibbons, director of the Allen Vincent Smith Foundation, stated he was encouraged Health Minister Quinton Edness wanted to explore the issue of condoms and counselling for students.

However, the issue should not become submerged in red tape, he stated.

"This is an issue of availability and it must be handled discreetly. A young adult is not going to visit the Principal's office, or the school guidance counsellor to ask for a condom,'' wrote Mr. Gibbons.

"A simple vending machine in the men's toilet would work better. Education must take place in the classroom.'' EDUCATION ED
