Hurricane Ivan should now have passed its nearest point to the Island, storming by 1,141 miles to the east at 3 p.m. yesterday.

Hurricane Jeanne, not considered a threat, will be around 1,187 miles east-southeast of Bermuda at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

And meteorologists say the ferocious Hurricane Georges and Tropical Storm Karl are now heading away from Bermuda.

CRUISE WORKER ATTACKED CRM Cruise worker attacked A cruise ship employee was attacked and robbed by two people in a late night incident.

The victim had left a Hamilton restaurant at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday when he was approached by a dreadlocked woman who engaged him in conversation.

She guided the man, who had consumed several drinks, along Reid Street until they reached a shop doorway, where he was set upon by the woman and a male accomplice.

The victim was beaten around the head with sticks and his wallet, containing cash and other personal items, was stolen. He suffered facial bumps and bruises.

The woman is described as brown-skinned, in her mid-30s and around five feet, five inches tall. She was wearing black pants and a similar top.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 295-0011.

SEX ASSAULT REPORTED CRM Sex assault reported A young Warwick woman was the victim of a sexual assault after an incident on Manse Road, Paget.

The 26-year-old woman was riding home late on Wednesday night when a man caused her to stop. The assault then took place and she was followed into her home, where the assailant eventually made off after a tussle with the woman's boyfriend.

A 25-year-old Pembroke man was arrested.

SCHOOLGIRL MISSING POL Schoolgirl missing A public appeal for help has been made after a schoolgirl failed to return home.

Theresa Carmichael, 14, of Whaling Hill, Southampton, did not return home on Wednesday night after leaving her home at 7 a.m. for school.

A Police spokesman said she did not arrive at school but was seen at 8 p.m. at a westbound bus stop at Heron Bay.

Theresa is described as five feet, five inches tall, with medium brown skin and hair pulled back. She wore a grey skirt and white polo shirt.

"The family are very concerned for her safety and we would ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of Theresa Carmichael to contact the Police on 295-0011,'' a Police spokesman said.

BURGLARS HIT RESTAURANT CRM Burglars hit restaurant Thieves stole cash from the Halfway House in Flatts, overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. The money was taken from two boxes left on the premises, between 11.50 p.m. and 7.15 a.m.

A raid also took place at the Ocean View Stables on St. Mark's Road, Smith's on Wednesday night. Cash was taken and entry forms for a horse show and two halters were also removed from outside stables.

NEW GATE AT SOUTHDISE GVT MIL New gate at Southside Texas Road residents will have direct pedestrian access to Southside by the week of October 5.

A Bermuda Land Development Company spokesman announced last night that construction of a pedestrian gate had begun at the junction of St. Luke Lane and Texas Road.

BLDC chief executive officer Carl Musson added: "The gate will provide more direct and convenient access to Southside's Clearwater Beach and park lands than the existing gate by Clearwater Middle School on St. David's Road.

"This is a relatively small project for us, but we think it can make a big difference to residents who would like to make Southside's open spaces a bigger part of their daily lives.''
