Two sandwich bags containing the drug were found on 20-year-old Somers Goodman as he arrived at the Airport on June 11 to visit his mother, who resides here.

He admitted he had the cannabis when Customs officers said they were about to search him.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Goodman, who pleaded guilty to the offence, had told Police the drug was for his own use. It was later found to weigh 13.82 grams.

Duty counsel Miss Sonia Grant said Goodman's mother had given him a stern lecture and enrolled him in a drug counselling programme in America.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said the fine was less than usual because Goodman was a student.

MAN BANNED FROM CITY PARK CTS Man banned from city park A homeless man has been told to stay out of a city park or face prison. Eugene Darrell, 35, who stays at the Salvation Army Shelter was charged with trespassing in Par-La-Ville Park after receiving a letter forbidding him to do so.

He was also charged with drinking liquor in a public place at Albuoy's Point on Saturday.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Rex Osborne said that a Police officer on patrol had seen Darrell drinking from a beer bottle The court heard that he had also been caught in Par-La-Ville Park after being forbidden from entering because of his involvement in past offences committed there.

It was suggested that Darrell should be given a period of community service so he could serve "a useful purpose in life'' rather than spending time in prison.

He was given a two months' prison sentence suspended for a year and a $75 fine for drinking in public.

SUMMER JOBS GVT Summer jobs Students seeking summer jobs are being encouraged to join the new Chores Corps Programme.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. today at the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation.

The programme will try to find part-time jobs for students aged 16 and over who are unable to get work on their own.

It is funded by the National Youth Council and administered by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Recreation.

Anyone with temporary work for students, such as grass-cutting, window cleaning, or office duties, is asked to register with the programme by ringing 295-6081.

CANCER TALK HTH Cancer talk Urologist Dr. Charles Dyer will be guest speaker at a June 25 lunchtime forum marking Cancer Awareness Month.

It will take place at Cathedral Hall on Church Street, from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.

The Health Ministry has urged as many people as possible to turn up.

The focus of Cancer Awareness Month is cancer in men, specifically prostate cancer.

CASH RAID CRM Cash raid A burglar fled with cash after breaking into a guest apartment in Warwickshire Road, Warwick, at about 1.30 a.m. yesterday.

The man was disturbed by the guest staying at the property.

The intruder was described as light skinned and about 5ft 8in. Anyone who can help Police should contact Central CID.

COMEDY SHOW ENT Comedy show Local comedian Bootsie will put on a special show for Fathers Day this Sunday -- because he says "there isn't much for dads to do on their special day''.

His show, at Sonesta Beach hotel, will feature three women comedians from US TV whom he says have been specially picked for their message to men.

Local singers Lady Tyson and Oneka Paynter will also perform.
