Teachers to get degrees
week to receive their Masters degrees.
The 33 graduates -- all women teachers -- are the first Bermudians to be awarded degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Teaching from Wheelock College.
They were able to carry out their studies by attending classes in the evenings and weekends, as well as an intensive summer study session.
A spokeswoman for the college said: "Wheelock has been able to give these teachers a high quality graduate education that would otherwise be unavailable to them because of their geographic isolation. They were taught by 13 top ranking Wheelock faculty members.
"Wheelock Masters students have already performed 31 workshops for colleagues and have had held more than 15 staff development training sessions. They have also supervised the training of five new student teachers.'' The degree ceremony will take place at the college on Friday.
