Teachers, union to meet
discuss educator's concerns.
Bermuda Union of Teachers president Michael Charles last night said the two sides will meet at 4 p.m. today at the new secondary school.
"The teachers requested the meeting to discuss their concerns,'' Mr. Charles said. "Nothing has been mentioned to us about any industrial action.
Last week it was revealed that teachers at the troubled CedarBridge Academy had asked for an urgent meeting with BUT bosses.
The news followed two incidents at the new CedarBridge Academy -- the latest in a series of violent episodes to rock the school.
The Royal Gazette learned of the incidents after a furious school insider blew the whistle on the teenage troublemakers.
The source claimed that a group of teachers were talking tough -- possibly industrial action -- in a bid to end a downward spiral of violence at the school.
Today's meeting will not be attended by Ministry of Education officials.
